Get Salon-Quality Nails at Home in Minutes
Press-on nails have come a long way! With the right technique, you can achieve a flawless, long-lasting manicure that looks professionally done. Follow this step-by-step guide to apply your Currant™ nail wraps perfectly every time.
What You'll Need
- Currant™ press-on nail wraps (any design)
- Nail file or buffer
- Alcohol wipe or nail polish remover
- Cuticle pusher (optional)
- Top coat (optional, for extra durability)
Step 1: Prep Your Nails
Clean, dry nails are essential for long-lasting wear. Start by washing your hands thoroughly and removing any old polish. Use an alcohol wipe to remove oils from your nail surface - this helps the wraps adhere better and last up to 14 days.
Pro tip: Gently push back your cuticles for a cleaner application and more professional look.
Step 2: Choose the Right Size
Each Currant™ kit comes with multiple sizes to fit every nail. Hold different strips up to your nails to find the perfect match. The wrap should cover your entire nail without touching the cuticle or skin.
Sizing tip: If you're between sizes, choose the slightly smaller one - you can always file the edges to fit perfectly.
Step 3: Apply the Nail Wraps
Peel the wrap from the backing sheet and apply it to your nail, starting at the cuticle. Press down firmly from the center outward to remove any air bubbles. Smooth the wrap over the entire nail surface.
Important: Work quickly but carefully - the adhesive activates on contact with your nail.
Step 4: File the Excess
Once applied, file away the excess wrap at the tip of your nail using a downward motion. This creates a clean edge and ensures the wrap won't lift or peel.
Step 5: Seal and Finish
For maximum durability, apply a clear top coat over your nail wraps. This adds extra shine and can extend wear time to 14+ days. Let dry completely before using your hands.
How Long Do Press-On Nails Last?
With proper application, Currant™ nail wraps last 7-14 days. Factors that affect longevity include:
- How well you prepped your nails
- Your daily activities (frequent hand washing, swimming, etc.)
- Whether you used a top coat
Removal Tips
When you're ready for a new design, gently peel off the wraps starting from the cuticle. They remove easily without damaging your natural nails - no harsh chemicals or soaking required!
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Skipping nail prep: Oils on your nails prevent proper adhesion
- Choosing the wrong size: Too large = lifting, too small = incomplete coverage
- Not filing properly: Excess wrap will catch and peel
- Applying to wet nails: Always ensure nails are completely dry
